LOVE IS STILL GOD'S WAY

ROMANS 13:8-10 NKJ
8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not murder," "You shall not steal," "You shall not bear false witness," "You shall not covet," and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

OBSERVATION:

I was asked a question the other day by our media guys who put us on TokTok. The question was, how do I find the will of God?

Not an easy question to answer in less than 30 seconds. But this passage is a great start. God's will is His word. As we practice doing what He has already said to us in the scriptures, more light can come our way.

Our passage for today is about the God kind of love. When we talk about God's love, there is a tendency to overlook its importance. We don't hear as much about walking in this love today as we should, and quite frankly, it shows. We would not treat each other with such anger and bitterness if we took these verses seriously. The harshness and flat-out meanness that we see, especially online, has no place in the Body of Christ.

For us, in the New Testament, this God kind of love is the commandment we are to keep. If we practice this love, we will be keeping the ten commandments. Paul said all the commandments are summed up in "you shall love your neighbor as yourself." If we keep God's law of love, we won't steal, commit adultery, murder, or covet. So, Paul states this God kind of love does no harm and is the fulfilling of the law.

APPLICATION:

Even though we don't hear as many messages about love today, it does not mean love has lost its importance with God. By making love a priority, we will be placing ourselves in the middle of God's will because God is love.

One of the best ways to practice this love is to read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and begin to do what it says. Spoiler alert: this is not easy but extremely rewarding. Talk about solving relationship problems. This is the best place to start.

Joy taped up 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 all over our first house. She said that she needed a constant reminder. What she did not say was that living with me caused her to need a constant reminder. I got the message.

If you have forgotten the importance of this commandment, stir yourself up. Love is still God's way.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, You are love, and love is Your way. Help me and enlighten me as to how I can practice Your love in my life. I will accept the challenge to walk in love.
