A SIMPLE GOSPEL

ACTS 13:37-39 NKJ 37 but He whom God raised up saw no corruption. 38 Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; 39 and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses

The gospel Paul preached was actually quite simple.  It always contained the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.  Three times in his address to the Jews, Paul referenced Jesus being raised from the dead.

Paul also preached that through Jesus was the forgiveness of sins.  And only through this man could sins be forgiven.

Paul preached that works, keeping the Jewish law, would not make people right in God's eyes.  To be right with God, one must believe in what Jesus has done through His life, death, burial, and resurrection.

So, the simple gospel is that Jesus, God's Son, has been raised from the dead.  Through Jesus, all sins are forgiven.  And it's in believing this good news that one can be made right with God.  So simple yet so powerful.

APPLICATION

We must never overlook the simplicity of the gospel or take it for granted.

Jesus died for us, but God raised Him from the dead for us.  Now, as we believe this amazing story, our sins are forgiven, and we are made right in God's sight.  And we can't overlook one word in Paul's message - everyone.  This simple gospel is available to everyone rich, poor, cultured, primitive, male, female - everyone who simply believes.

 PRAYER

Thank You, Father, for sending Jesus to die for my sins.  Thank You for raising Him from the dead.  I believe this good news and receive forgiveness of my sins and being made right before you.
