THE ONE THING JESUS ANSWERED

MARK 14:60-62 NKJ
60 And the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus, saying, "Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?" 61 But He kept silent and answered nothing.
Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, "Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?"
62 Jesus said, "I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven."

During the trial of Jesus, before He was crucified, people made accusations against Him. The chief priest and religious council were looking for testimonies so they could put Jesus to death.

Many of the people who spoke against Jesus lied. They never could get the stories to line up. Lies just seem to work that way. All through these lies and railing accusations, Jesus never said a word.

Then the high priest asked Jesus a question and got an immediate response. He asked if Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God. And this time, Jesus spoke up and affirmed that this was exactly who He was. And that this high priest would see Him sitting at the right hand of God's throne and coming with the clouds of heaven. There's an answer for you.

Jesus would not respond to lies and accusations; he did respond to the question about who He was.

APPLICATION:

Jesus gives us an example of a powerful pattern to follow. We do not need to answer lies being told about us. This certainly requires a level of strength. Our first response is to deny or counter or accuse.

But if we are asked who we are, we need to respond. Are we new creations, children of God? Yes, that's who we are in Christ. Are we blessed, healed, and empowered by the Holy Spirit of God? Yes, we are. So, we don't respond to lies and do respond when our true selves are called into question.

PRAYER:

Thank You, Father, that I can say with confidence, I am who You say I am. It's revealed in Your word, not in my feelings and senses.
