NO OTHER NAME

ACTS 4:10-12 NKJ 10 let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. 11 This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ 12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

We get a strong sense that the early church was very clear on who was to be promoted and exalted. Jesus. They were not looking for credit or fame, or position. They recognized that without Jesus, none of these amazing miracles would be taking place.

This was before the church began to divide into camps and disagreements surfaced regarding salvation for those who were not Jewish. Before people identified with the various apostles and prophets, there was only one name that stood out: Jesus Christ of Nazareth. And there was only one name that could bring salvation to mankind. No other name but one, Jesus!

APPLICATION

Christianity has often been criticized for being too exclusive. With many adopting a 'many paths to God' theology, the idea that there is only one way can appear severe.

But Jesus was the first to declare that no one would come to the Father except by Him. And His disciples picked up on that truth and proclaimed it boldly.

Because we believe the scriptures, we believe God is the Creator of heaven and earth. Then we also believe He provided salvation through His son Jesus Christ. No other way, no other name.

PRAYER

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for providing salvation and all that goes with salvation through Your son Jesus. I trust my eternal salvation to Him and Him alone.
