INSIGHTS ABOUT GOD

PSALM 84:10-12 NKJ
10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.
12 O Lord of hosts,
Blessed is the man who trusts in You!

I know we are supposed to be looking at Romans chapter eleven.  But that's one of those chapters in my Bible with very few passages highlighted.  I read the entire chapter a couple of times and nothing "clicked".  Thank God for Proverbs and Psalms.  Proverbs is full of practical, godly wisdom, and Psalms are full of the expressions of a heart that loves and trusts God.

This passage is a great expression of a heart towards God but also a great insight as to who God is.

I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God.  A better translation is - I would rather stand at the threshold of God's house than live inside the tent with the wicked. Because God is a sun, light, and shield, protection.  He will give grace, power, glory, and favor, and He does not withhold from those who walk with Him.  In fact, those who trust in Him are the blessed ones.

Such a beautiful, poetic passage, full of insight into our great God. He is so powerful, so giving, so ready to bless.

APPLICATION

The psalms are great for taking and making them personal.  Lord, I would rather dwell at the door, but I am glad I can come into Your presence.  Lord, You are my light, my protection.  You fill my life with Your grace and glory.  You are not holding back from me on any good thing.  I am so blessed because I trust in You.

Try saying this out loud when you are having your time with God.  You'll be surprised at how it lifts you.
