HOW TO KEEP FROM BEING BIT

PROVERBS 26:17 NKJ
17 He who passes by and meddles in a quarrel not his own
Is like one who takes a dog by the ears.

I have been on a semi-rant with the last couple of devotionals, so I will keep this one brief.

The visual of this proverb is such a great one.  If you have ever grabbed a dog by the ears, you know the outcome can be bad, especially with a dog that is not yours.  It's an almost certain way of getting bit.

Another way to guarantee being 'bit' is to get involved in a quarrel that has nothing to do with you.  When people are barking and snapping at one another, don't step in. Sometimes they will turn from biting each other to biting you.

APPLICATION

So, what should you do? Just stay out.  Even if they invite you in, resist the temptation to solve their fight.  Imagine a big snarling Rottweiler staring you in the face.  Don't grab his ears; instead, smile, pray and stay away.

PRAYER

Lord, teach me to stay out of other people's problems.  I don't want to get bit.
