A SUPERNATURAL ENCOUNTER

LUKE 2:25-30 NKJ 
25 And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. 27 So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, 28 he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said: 
29 “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, 
According to Your word; 
30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation 

This encounter may have seemed fairly common on the surface, but it was very much a God encounter. 

Simeon, a godly man, was told by the Holy Spirit that he would see the Messiah before he died.  This same Holy Spirit led him into the temple when Joseph and Mary brought Jesus in to be circumcised.  And the Holy Spirit revealed to Simeon that this eight day old baby was the Lord's Christ.  Everyone did not see this, so Jesus did not have a glow or a halo.  He looked like a baby, but to Simeon, He was the promise, the answer for Israel.   

Even though this encounter seemed normal, it was totally a supernatural experience for Simeon and for Jesus' parents.  Imagine how helpful this confirming word of the specialness of the child was to Mary and Joseph.  Everyone around them saw another baby while Simeon, Mary, and Joseph saw the Savior of Israel and the world.   

APPLICATION 

The same Holy Spirit present that day to reveal the Christ child to Simeon is with us today.  He, the Holy Spirit, has not lost any of His power or any of His ability to reveal things we have not seen and show us things to come.   

This same Holy Spirit revealed God's plan for us to start a church in Conroe over 25 years ago.  It may not have been a spectacular experience, but it was definitely supernatural.  And He can still reveal God's plan to you today - things you have not seen before.  We can and should have regular supernatural experiences with God's Spirit. 

PRAYER 

Father thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. He has been active in the earth since time began and we have the awesome privilege of this same Holy Spirit living in us. Thank You for His help, wisdom, revelation and strength. He is my unseen advantage in life!
