WITH GOD THINGS CAN GET BETTER

PSALM 30:1-5 NKJ
1 I will extol You, O Lord, for You have lifted me up,
And have not let my foes rejoice over me.
2 O Lord my God, I cried out to You,
And You healed me.
3 O Lord, You brought my soul up from the grave;
You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
4 Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His,
And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.
5 For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning.

David is praising God for all the things He has done for him. God had definitely turned things around for David and had seen him through some difficult times.

Because of God's help, David's enemies had not been able to rejoice over him. In more modern terms, David's enemies did not get the chance to talk trash because God lifted him up. God caused him to come out on top.

David was praising God because God had healed him and kept him alive when it was looking pretty grim.

David then encourages the believers to offer praise and thanks to God. Thanks, because God does not let His anger fall on us but instead has given us His favor.

And I like this next phrase. Weeping may endure for a night. But joy comes in the morning. This seems to sum up so much of David's life. He was blessed by God and used of God and still dealt with some very difficult times. The key with David is that the difficult times did not stay. Gloom and depression did not stay. Defeat did not stay. Through it all, David was able to come out on top because God helped him.

APPLICATION:

This concept is one of the greatest benefits of serving God. The principle that difficult times may come, but they do not have to have the last word.

Because what God did for David, He can do in our lives also. He can lift us up above our enemies so that they are not able to rejoice over us. Our enemies won't be able to throw it in our faces. God can heal us and keep us alive when it looks as if we are heading down the pathway of death.

God can cause the sadness and gloom to lift off our lives as we praise Him, the One who turns things around for us.

Yes, hard times may come but by the grace of God they do not have to stay.

PRAYER:

I praise You, God, for Your mercy and kindness toward me. With You in my life, things can turn around for the better.
