GOD'S HELP

PSALM 37:39-40 NKJ
39 But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;
He is their strength in the time of trouble.
40 And the Lord shall help them and deliver them;
He shall deliver them from the wicked,
And save them,
Because they trust in Him.

The challenge with this Psalm was in picking which verses to use as a devotional. It reminds me of some of the Proverbs with Godly wisdom on every line. It's a Psalm that has actionable steps and spiritual insight, and I hope you take the time to read the entire 40 verses.

In this passage, we see David's confidence in the Lord. The Lord is the salvation of those who are His. He also is their strength when trouble comes. So, we see help, strength, deliverance, and safety; all these wonderful benefits to anyone who will put their trust in Him. Throughout his life, David displayed a trust and strong confidence in the Lord, and time after time, David experienced God's salvation, strength, help, and deliverance.

APPLICATION

These two verses would be good ones to verbalize. Whether in times of prayer or simply praising and worshipping God. It would be good to declare He is my strength, my help, and my salvation. You would not be misappropriating God's word but rather creating an environment in your own life where His words become more personal to you. The following prayer is an example you can use.

PRAYER

Dear Father, You are my salvation and my strength in times of trouble. Thank You for helping me and delivering me. My trust is in You.
