CAN'T SEE 'EM, BUT I BELIEVE THEY ARE THERE

PSALM 91:9-12 NKJ
9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

Psalm 91 is one of the best-known Psalms in the Bible.  Not quite as well-known as Psalm 23, but it's certainly on the shortlist.  This is the next Psalm on my list to memorize, and with Covid 19 still active in America as well as a host of other challenges facing us today, it's a good Psalm to read.  Frequently.

This passage speaks of making the Lord our refuge and dwelling place.  No evil shall come our way and no plague near our dwelling.  Since both Joy and I got Covid 19 last year, I have purposed to get more serious about this promise.

And along with this promise is the promise of angelic help.  I have never seen an angel, but I believe they are real.  And I believe that they are helping and protecting us.

I have a thought that is not biblically based, just my wishful thinking, that when in heaven, we'll get to see a HeavenTube video of all the times angels have helped us.  Hey, it could happen.

But until then, I'll continue to believe that the closer I walk with God, the safer I am.  Verse nine talks about the Lord being our dwelling place, and that's a close, constant walk.  There are big benefits to walking close to God, and angels helping are a part of that benefits package.

APPLICATION

I realize that saying you believe in angels may sound like Looney Tunes to some people.  But then again, I am not looking to those people for my salvation or any sense of spiritual reality.

There is a spiritual realm, and angels are spiritual beings that can help us.  And I need all the help I can get.  So, I purpose to walk close to the Lord and thank Him for His protection and His protection squad of angels.

PRAYER

Dear Father, teach me how to make You my refuge and dwelling place.  Thank You for Your protection and Your angels keeping me in all my ways.
